Holy Spirit anointing: clarify different labels

Before the coming of the Holy Spirit, only a few people were anointed. After the Holy Spirit came to the Jews on Pentecost (acts 2) and then to the gentiles (acts 10), the Holy Spirit was given to all believers (1 Cor 12:13, 1 John 2: 20). The "anointing" is given by the Holy Spirit because the anointing IS the Holy Spirit who gives the Christian understanding of good doctrine as they read the scripture via illumination.
1 John 2:20 (amplified) But you have an anointing from the Holy One [you have been set apart, specially gifted and prepared by the Holy Spirit], and all of you know [the truth because He teaches us, illuminates our minds, and guards us from error].
1 John 2:27 (amplified) As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him].

Taken from the book Spirit-Filled Jesus by Pastor Vlad Savchuk, the book reads there are 3 dimensions to the relationship that the Holy Spirit has with us. He is with us, in us, and upon us. Daniel Adams did a teaching about the Abiding Anointing and posted in on YouTube on the 28th of July. TSNL is using the phrase "Abiding Anointing". Pastor Vlad would call this the "inner anointing".

Let's look to see specifically what scripture tells us. I believe the Old Testament provides a good framework to start.
Ezekiel 36:24-27 says, "For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and I will bring you back into your own land. I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances."
This is the born again experience. John 3:6 says, "Flesh gives to flesh, but Spirit gives birth to spirit.
It doesn't stop there with understanding with what happens with the Holy Spirit. When we give ourselves to the Lord Jesus, 1 Corinthians 6:17 says, "who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him." In verse 19 it says, "our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, who you received from God."
A Webster definition of anoint means "to choose by or as if by diving election". In other words, we are specifically and purposely marked by God. He is making clear to all elohim, this human being is mine.
The definition is supported by Luke 24:49, "And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you". Though the verse continues and implies this is the baptism of the Holy Spirit to come upon a person (empowered anointing), it is the promise spoken of in Ezekiel 36.

Romans 8:9-11 says, "You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you."

1 John 2: 27 says, But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

Ephesians 4:30 (amplified) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin].

How do we grieve the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:25-32 provides the answer. If we do not allow the Holy Spirit to work in us to change us by freeing us from sin and purifying us (sanctification), we grieve the Holy Spirit.

I propose to determine whether the Holy Spirit is in you and working within you, a litmus test can be used. We can use Galatians 5:22-24 as the items to test that will establish truths of our character.
Do the following qualities show forth in our daily lives?
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Have you crucified the flesh along with its passions and desires.
Do you still struggle with conceit, provocation, or envy?

The "abiding anointing" is simply stated as the Holy Spirit that dwells within us to help, lead, and guide us in all truth. The work by way of anointing is to change us in order that we able able to live, move, and have our being.
