Who do we choose

Reading psalms 101, the verse from Hebrews 3, Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.

While reading a book, there is a topic concerning the church pointing fingers at sin with regards to people. This finger pointing seems to have done more harm than good. People are wounded and become victims rather than victors. What is causing this?

I believe we are dealing with an issue of broken people trying to do good on their own and not living out the scripture. The scripture is to provide a roadmap of what works and what doesn't. Recently, I mentioned Galatians 6:2, that we are to share our burdens with one another. Broken and hurt hearts will protect itself from more hurt. Trust is replaced with fear and shame. As a result, many live in bondage yet saved and love God.

My desire moving forward is to be able to understand how, with the leading of Holy Spirit, to tackle sin issues that does not leave a person wounded but rather with Holy conviction, a person chooses to repent. God doesn't beat us up for sin but rather has open arms and longs to heal us from wrongs and hurts, sometimes caused by others. He helps us shift trust from ourself to the Him.

The truth is sin does not bring life. The bible makes clear that we are paid death as wages for our sin. It is what we are storing up in our account due to us. The wonderful news of the gospel is how Jesus paid and satisfies the payment due that not one of us could repay. We can try but there is only 1 valid currency in heaven that can pay for those wages earned. It is the precious blood of Jesus. That is the reason Jesus came from heaven and died on a cross. When we can grab ahold of this truth, it can change our life.
Sin should not be dealt with lightly. It leads to death, not life. Dealing with sin isn't always easy, but necessary. Hebrews 3 warns what can happen when people continue to willfully and deliberately sin. When confronted, it doesn't make sense that it should be a light hearted matter or something to laugh at. Rather, it should be a sober moment to reflect, repent, and allow our heavenly Father to heal and restore us.

Last thought to ponder. If you are unwilling to give up a sin in your life, which do you love more? The sin or God. The bible says we should choose this day who we will serve. You probably already know the final question. What or who are you going to choose to serve this day. This I know, God is greater and more loving than anything else I have experienced in this life. He is totally worth choosing.
